Storm Damage and Insurance Headaches

On April 27, 2011, this entire area was dealt a huge blow from the many storm systems, and tornadoes that came through Chattanooga, Hamilton County, North Georgia and surrounding areas.  Most of us survived and most of our homes and businesses were spared, or had only minor damage.   However, some lost their lives, and many suffered major or severe damage to homes, businesses and automobiles.

Over the next weeks and months, as we rebuild, we will also likely see yet another form of loss – improper, unfair or problematic insurance claims practices.  Even if the insurance company is acting in good faith, it may appear to be unfair or to be taking “an eternity” to get your claim settled.

If you have any issues or problems in settling an insurance claim, you should seriously consider consulting an attorney and obtain legal counsel.  You may even need to retain an attorney to assist you in negotiating and collecting your claim.
