Is it more likely than not that she killed her daughter?<\/p>\n<h2>&#8220;More Likely Than Not&#8221; Is Not Sufficient to Convict of a Crime<\/h2>\n<p>The foundation of our criminal justice system requires a much higher standard of proof than &#8220;more likely than not&#8221; or she (or he) sounds or looks guilty&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0 A lying **** is not necessarily a murderer.\u00a0 The <strong>jury was charged<\/strong> in this case like in all criminal cases with the <strong>duty to determine<\/strong> if the State of Florida <strong>proved beyond a reasonable doubt<\/strong> that Casey Anthony murdered her daughter, Caylee Anthony, or that she had committed an act which led to the unintended death of her child.\u00a0 The jury and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">only<\/span> the jury has that duty.\u00a0 We the television spectators have not heard all of the evidence, but only snippets as filtered by the media and the &#8220;experts&#8221; along with the opinionators &#8211; the talking heads.<\/p>\n<p>This case is a prime example that our <strong>system of justice still works<\/strong>. This jury of 12 men and women <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">did not declare<\/span> Casey Anthony innocent, but rather delivered a <strong>verdict of not guilty<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0 As the <a title=\"Jurors in Casey Anthony trial speak out\" href=\"http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/casey_anthony_trial\/casey-anthony-juror-sick-stomach-guilty-verdict\/story?id=14005609\" target=\"_blank\">jurors speak out <\/a>and tell their story, maybe the message will be clearer:\u00a0 [notice]In order to convict the defendant must be found to be guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.[\/notice]<\/p>\n<h3>Criminal Attorneys Insist that <em>Reasonable Doubt Standard<\/em> Be Adhered to in the Courts<\/h3>\n<p>It is this standard that all <strong>criminal defense attorneys<\/strong> insist be upheld by the courts and by the jurors.\u00a0 If the State can charge you with a crime and deprive you of freedom or your life based upon any other standard then everyone in this country is at severe risk.\u00a0 Maybe Casey Anthony committed this horrific crime, maybe she didn&#8217;t.\u00a0 But the bottom line is the State of Florida <strong>could not establish beyond a reasonable doubt<\/strong> that she did it.\u00a0 [important]The state <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">did not<\/span> prove beyond reasonable doubt that Caylee was murdered, or the cause of death at all, that Casey had actually done anything that lead to the death of the child. [\/important]\u00a0 Is there reasonable doubt?<\/p>\n<p>In the day of television shows like CSI, and the like, there is a tendency to believe that cases can be solved and that DNA evidence, etc., are very easily obtained.\u00a0 The <strong>Casey Anthony case<\/strong> is a case in point that <a title=\"Law School from Television Shows?\" href=\"https:\/\/purplelawfirm.com\/law-and-you-chattanooga\/2011\/02\/05\/law-school-from-television-shows\/\">reality and television legal dramas<\/a> are miles apart.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Casey Anthony &#8211; Beyond a Reasonable Doubt?
